Judy Paterson - Scottish Storyteller, writer and children’s author is well-known for her books of Scottish Folktales and Fairytales. Also published are the following: The History of Scotland for Children, Robert Burns - The Story of Scotland’s National Poet, Spook’s Edinburgh - A Guide for Children, The Fidget Family books - Fumb Has Fun, Fidgets at the Fair, Fidgets on the Farm and Mrs Fidget’s Busy Day. For adults she has written three Scottish Cookery books, The Scottish Cook, Scottish Home Baking and Scottish Home Cooking. Folk and Fairy Tales include, Peerifool, The Dwarfie Stane (both Orkney), The Witch of Fife, The Fisherman’s Son (Aberdeenshire), Tamlane, Thomas the Rhymer ( both Scottish Borders) Tales on the Tongue, Kingfisher Book of Horse and Pony Stories. Her publishers include Glowworm Books Ltd, Lindsay Publications, Birlinn, Bloomsbury The Scottish Storytelling Centre and Kingfisher Publications.

As a Storyteller Judy Paterson works with children in Nursery, Primary School and High School. She enjoys working with children with Special Needs and often works with adults also. Her stories come from the Dreamtime in Australia, the Time bilong Tumbuna in Papua New Guinea, traditional tales from Scotland including traveller tales, and stories from across Europe, India, Africa, Asia and America. They are fun, sometimes scary and sometimes spooky. She runs workshops for teachers and librarians and anyone interested in the skills and traditions of the oral tale. She is a network member of The George Mackay Brown Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh and is on the Scottish Book Trust register of writers, Live Literature Scotland Scheme, funded by the Scottish Arts Council.
